out of the fire and into... a tornado? or tornado sandwich

Well, not quite an actual tornado, but tornado country with a tornado alert. CMJ 07 is over and done with, for us at least, and we've left the city for a final stop in Chicago before heading home. (more on cmj later) We were forewarned as we were leaving and kept and eye out for the menacing things. We ended up staying outside Toledo, which according to the 24hr weather reports would be the jelly in the tornado alert sandwich, with a bulk of the weather touching down in Michigan and then Florida later this morning. (i think that was a run on sentence) Coming from California we do not really encounter these types of alerts. I guess you could we get it in the form over earthquakes, which in this scenario I truly do not know what we would prefer. Although, by typing that last sentence I cannot help but think of the Dave Cross bit about being "an earthquake nestled in a box of tornadoes". Or was that tsunamis?

Moving on... apparently the tornado alarm went off in the hotel for a moment, buuuuut I missed it altogether due to my having headphones on for a solid 2 hrs. Lee told me this morning that while being uncertain as to what to do he quickly google'd and found youtube footage of people carrying on about their daily business while these things rung on. I mean, you don't see this very often...

Alas, we have not been tornado'd...yet. But we will be sure to put on our anti-tornado spray as we press on to Chicago. Home of deep-dish pizza, Schubas and Cousin Larry Appleton.

And now, the dance of joy.

p.s. - we mean no disrespect to those who encounter these acts of nature on a daily basis. our hearts go out all the victims in the last few days.

Minneapolis/Chicago

too much fun = too little entries

In minneapolis we experienced bacon night at the venue. It was abundant as bar nuts and popcorn and the oddest thing to see lying about a bar. It was definitely a grease fiesta (a griesta?) for the non-vegetarians in the band. Earlier in the day we had some time to kill so we swung by the Mall of America, the supposed largest mall in here in the states. It was indeed
quite gi-hugic. Although, we did not see much of it as we b-lined it to the amusement park in the center for some mid-day rollercoaster action.

In Chicago we said our goodbyes to the lovely Sleeping States folks. A very sweet bunch. May the rock gods smile upon on us and let our paths cross once again. Theres was pizza and beer after party on the upper upper level. Good fun, lots of stairs, and Voxtrot djing.

denver deathgrip

Nothing like a little denver to throw the little ones' lungs in a high altitude chokehold.
geez louise. Got to meet the sleeping states who are friends with our pull tiger buddies.
Though, it was a bit hard to listen to Sleeping States what with the cheering goin on over america's fave past time (that would be the rockies vs padres game thingy) . Mondays mostly equal heroes night to a majority of this band. Coincidently 3 members of the little ones are from san diego, which Mr. Brian shared while on stage. Alas, we were met with no ill will. Oh, and we met a nice couple, Christy(or kristy, or kristi, or christie) and Will. Real troopers. They first ones in and almost last out. Sorry about makin you wait for hours on end.

twin city time.
